Two sinkholes open up off SR-39 in McMinn County

UPDATE (September 27, 2024):  Another sink hole has opened up 100 feet from the first sinkhole off of SR-39 in McMinn County.

Rae Anne Bradley with TDOT posted on X yesterday about the 2nd sinkhole.

MCMINN COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A sinkhole has opened up on the side of SR-39 in McMinn County.

Rae Anne Bradley with TDOT posted on X that the sink hole is located at mile marker 3.4.

Bradley goes onto say that the sinkhole is large enough to close the road.

There’s a broken waterline inside the sinkhole.

The cause has yet to be determined.
