Vols Prepare For Stretch Run
Back to work for the Vols Saturday.
After a bye week, Tennessee has to focus on a November stretch run that they hope will carry them into the post-season.
Maybe Tennessee will solve a weird mystery during their bye week.
Why they’ve gone three straight games without scoring in the first half.
Said head coach Josh Heupel:”It’s not just one thing. You look a week ago against Alabama. Turnovers on a couple of possessions. Missed field goals. Execution.
Said running back DeSean Bishop:”I don’t feel like it’s anything the other team is doing. We’re just shooting ourselves in the foot. Goes back to just being crucial in the small stuff. Giving more attention on that type of stuff.”
The first half offensive struggles haven’t hurt the Vols because their defense has been so good. U-T hasn’t allowed 20 points in a game this season.
Said linebacker Kalib Perry:”It’s fun to be around. It’s awesome. It’s great energy. At the end of the day, we know what we need to do. Make sure we don’t get satisfied with holding people to 20 points, but try to get them to zero.”
Time now to bring the energy against Kentucky.
Said Heupel:”Night game at Neyland. Dark mode. We need our crowd to be a huge part of the football game.”
Vols of course need a win to stay in the chase for the 12-team playoffs.
Said Heupel:”We are halfway through the conference schedule. There’s a ton of football left. If you are worried about the end result, you are going to make the mistakes you can’t afford on the way to the end. Our best football is still out in front of us. We’ve got to go chase that.”
