Man arrested for trafficking fentanyl in Cherokee County
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Nc. (WDEF) — A man from Asheville was arrested for trafficking fentanyl in Cherokee County.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office’s (CCSO) Narcotics Unit reported they arrested and charged Kwantez Marquis Tobe October 22, 2024.
Tobe was charged with the following:
- Trafficking in Opioids by Possession (Fentanyl)
- Trafficking in Opioids by Sale/Delivery (Fentanyl)
- Trafficking in Opioids by Transportation (Fentanyl)
- Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)
- Resisting Public Officer
At the time of his arrest, officers located 45 grams of fentanyl from Tobe’s person.
CCSO said this amount of fentanyl had to potential to claim 450 lives.
It was later determined that Tobe provided false identification upon arrest.
After discovering Tobe’s real identity, CCSO found he was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants relating to violent crimes.
