Love of the 80’s Drives Whitwell QB Brandon Easterly
Whitwell, TN-(WDEF-TV) Everyone knows what to expect from Whitwell in the playoffs.
A steady diet of their big ol’ quarterback, Brandon Easterly.
And as Brian Armstrong reports, Easterly gives new meaning to old school football.
Said head coach Owen Kilgore:”He has made a lot of ‘Wow’ plays for us this year, and we want him to keep doing that.”
Whitwell quarterback Brandon Easterly is on a mission. That mission is to run you over.
Said Kilgore:”He is our work-horse. He can do a little bit of everything. He is extremely talented. I feel like the more times we give him the football, the better and better he gets. He just wears down defenses.”
But where does that mentality come from? Maybe it’s the 80’s and the power of the mullet.”
Said Easterly:”I actually started growing it out this past season. I’m a big 80’s guy. Actually have a Corvette. 1985 Corvette. Just kind of matches the style. My playing style of smash-mouth football. That’s the kind of football I like to play. That’s the football they played back then. Just running over people. When you get to the end of the run, you make somebody pay for it.”
But that physical style of football doesn’t come without pain and sacrifice.
Said Easterly:”Lot of recovery. You carry the ball 25-plus times a game. You need to go home and get an ice bath and get ready to go back at it on Monday.”
