Several TVA campsites & visitor centers closing for winter

RACCOON MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will be closing six campgrounds and several visitor centers for the upcoming winter.

The following six campgrounds will close Friday, November 15, and reopen March 15, 2025:

  • Cherokee Dam — Cherokee Dam Reservation in Jefferson City, Tenn.
  • Douglas Dam Headwater — Douglas Dam Reservation near Sevierville, Tenn.
  • Douglas Dam Tailwater — Douglas Dam Reservation near Sevierville, Tenn.
  • Melton Hill Dam — Melton Hill Dam Reservation near Lenoir City, Tenn.
  • Watauga Dam —  Watauga Dam Reservation near Elizabethton, Tenn.
  • Pickwick Dam —  Pickwick Dam Reservation near Savannah, Tenn.

According to TVA, all staffed TVA dam welcome centers will be closed by November 25, 2024.

The Raccoon Mountain Visitors Center is currently closed until June 2025 for on-site projects.

Reservations for the 2025 camping season will be taken online, starting December 1, 2024.
