Samaritan’s Purse kicks off Operation Christmas Child on Monday

HAMILTON COUNTY,Tenn. (WDEF)- Samaritan’s Purse is spreading holiday cheer and good tidings as they kick off Operation Christmas Child.

“Worldwide Last year, we collected 11 million shoe boxes they are giving the children overseas. Most of these children have never received a gift before, so we pack  school supplies, hygiene items, toys, that sort of thing for these children,” said David Killian, Area Coordinator, Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child.has been going on for more than 30 years.

Killian says this Ministry is focused on sharing the love of Christ by being a blessing to Children.

“A shoebox with a soccer ball in it can make a big change in the village just because the kids have a soccer ball to play with. There are just huge numbers of success stories about how this ministry has touched people and and they have planted churches, and the gospel is this is spreading to the ends of the earth,” Killian said.

Each Christmas, Samaritan’s Purse delivered more than 200 million Christmas Boxes.

Killian expects Operation Christmas Child to bless 12 million Children in 2024. .

“The shoe boxes are laid out. There are four age groups, two to five, five to nine, ten to fourteen, boys or girls, all of those. And you just pack items that would work for a chil,” Killian said.

Samaritan’s Purse will collect Christmas gift boxes all week until the 25-th.

Killian hopes to leave a loving impact on children in need this Christmas.

“The Bible tells us too much is given, much is expected. And I think a lot of us, a lot of Americans, do not realize how much we have actually been given. I mean, until you been over seas, you have seen starving kids, and people much worse off than we are, but, but I think that is the main thing. It is just serving kids. That feeling that when you knew the right thing and your services to someone,” Killian concluded.
