Mocs Coach Rusty Wright Hopes to See More Games With In-State Opponents Like Austin Peay

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Chattanooga Mocs close out their regular season tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Austin Peay. UTC needs a win to maintain their slim, playoff hopes.

Even though the Governors are an in-state opponent, Saturday will mark only the 9th ever meeting between the two schools.

You would think the Mocs and Govs would play more often since they’re roughly three hours apart.

Mocs coach Rusty Wright is on board with playing more in-state schools, and he says it might become reality, if realignment continues to reshape college football.

Said Wright:”Maybe one day we won’t have to worry about scheduling them. We will have them on the schedule every year. You never know. It’s always good. If we could play them, and Tennessee Tech, and East Tennessee. Tennessee State. U-T Martin. Those folks. If we could get a regular deal going. I think we do have Martin and Tech on the schedule in the future and East Tennessee every year. It helps. It helps a bunch.”
