Soddy Daisy holds annual Christmas Parade
SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) – With December now upon us, cities around the county are beginning their holiday celebrations.
Hundreds gathered together Sunday afternoon to experience one of Soddy Daisy’s most beloved holiday season’s favorite traditions.
The city’s annual Christmas Parade took place through the streets of the city starting at Harrison Lane to Sequoyah Road and featured marching bands, dancers, decorated vehicles, and even a special appearance by Santa Claus.
Floats were created by area churches, local businesses, and individual groups all to participate and compete for first-place trophies in each respective category.
Volunteers from the local Vietnam Veterans of America arrived to assist in making sure the parade ran flawlessly. With the parade’s lead organizers being the V-V-A, the organization expressed appreciation to continue to host one of the biggest attractions for the city.
For over 10 years, the Soddy Daisy Christmas Parade, which takes place on the first Sunday of December every year, has continued to attract more and more community members to experience the holiday joy.
This year, the parade had 79 different participants ranging from the local middle school all the way to the Soddy Daisy Fire Department. As there was no charge to enter the parade, donations to the Firefighters Association were appreciated. Be on the lookout for more community events around the area as we get closer to the Christmas holiday.
