MASE Defeats South Pittsburg 36-14 to Claim 1A State Title

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) South Pittsburg came up short in their bid to repeat as Class A state champions on Friday afternoon at Finley Stadium. The Pirates lost to Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering (MASE) 34-14. The game was tied at 14 at halftime. The Pirates two touchdowns came on long touchdown runs by quarterback Dayon Cooper. The Phoenix scored in the third to go up 19-14. South Pittsburg fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and MASE recovered. They cashed in with a touchdown on their way to winning the gold ball.
