One dead after stabbing at Brainerd Family Dollar
BRAINERD, Tenn. (WDEF) — One person is dead after a stabbing occurred at the Family Dollar on Brainerd Road Thursday morning.
Chattanooga Police (CPD) responded to 5000 Brainerd Road at 9:07 a.m. on a report of a female employee stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers located a female employee in critical condition.
She was transported to Erlanger Hospital where she later died.
CPD was able to locate the suspect, Patrick Cunningham, near the scene.
Cunningham admitted to officers that he “did it”.
He also explained to officers that he discarded the weapon used during the incident on top of a roof of a nearby liquor store.
Officers were able to obtain the weapon, and Cunningham was arrested.
According to the affidavit, Cunningham was attempting to rob the establishment stating, “give me the money” and “do you know who I am?”
It was also reported that the victim tripped over a basket, causing her to fall in the floor to which Cunningham began stabbing her.
Cunningham is being charged with Especially Aggravated Robbery and First Degree Murder.
