Electric vehicle caused Northshore apartment fire, Chattanooga Fire Department says

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  We’re learning more about what caused the apartment fire in Northshore late last month.

The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) stated the cause was accidental and in “electrical nature”.

This incident is the fire departments first large-scale incident related to an electric vehicle (EV).

CFD also reported that two vehicles near the EV burned and most of the cars in the garage has heat damage.

Additional smoke damage was sustained to the businesses and apartments above the parking garage.

Some residents were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Those residents have since been treated and released.

This fire occurred on November 22, 2024 at 1:30 a.m. at 417 Frazier Avenue.
