Car fire at the Eastgate Loop under the EPB drive-thru awning
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Early this morning at 2:24 a.m., the Chattanooga Fire Department was dispatched to a car fire at 830 Eastgate Loop.
First responders say that upon arriving on the scene, the car was discovered fully engulfed under the awning of the EPB drive-thru payment building.
First responders immediately upgraded the call to a commercial fire as flames were spreading into the structure.
A full response was dispatched and arrived on the scene to assist with extinguishing the fire.
Officers say they discovered that an individual had been sleeping in the car and using some type of propane heater in the vehicle.
The car caught fire, and the occupant was burned in the process.
Hamilton County Emergency Medical Service transported the injured patient to the hospital.
