Study: Chattanooga has second worst traffic in Tennessee
CHATTANOOGA , Tenn. (WDEF)- It’s not just the feeling you have, but data says Chattanooga’s traffic has gotten worse.
A study by INRIX, a transportation analytic company who releases a yearly traffic report of hundreds of cities around the globe, has found that Chattanooga has the second worst traffic in Tennessee.
We are only beaten out by Nashville.
Their data shows that on average, Chattanoogans lost 26 hours last year stuck in traffic, up four percent from 2023.
That puts Chattanooga in the top 50 in the country in congestion despite barely being in the top 100 populated metropolitan areas.
There are a variety of factors that lead to this outcome.
Transportation Analyst Bob Pishue with INRIX said, “With Chattanooga’s position on some major interstates and especially when it comes to freight, with the increase in people, the increase in economic output, that means more demand for goods and services which adds trucks to the road.”
