CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The largest snow in over a decade caused Chattanoogans to reckon with, and in many cases, enjoy the winter storm.

Residents Jaquan and his son Messiah enjoyed their first snow together.

Jaquan explained, “He don’t know much of what to do with it. I tried to get him to do a snow angel but he said no, so that’s all he’s doing right now is picking up snow.”

Others like residents Rendenise and Tay also expressed excitement at the rare event.

Rendenise said, “This is pretty cool. We had a little bit of snow last January but we didn’t have this much snow.”

Tay added, “We hadn’t had this much snow in a little minute.”

Rendenise said, “Yeah, but it’s really fun. We’ve been out here making TikToks, we’re going to go back in the house in a minute.”

Tay added, “I think everybody enjoying the snow this January.”

However, it also brought danger, as most residents opted to stay home amid numerous crashes and slick roads.

Rendenise said, “My friend is actually on the way here and he got stuck in the snow, and he’s scared to move right now.”

She also added, “I feel like I knew it was already going to snow in January because it was still so hot in October and November.”

Tay said, “I wasn’t expecting this snow, like what?”

But no matter the trouble the storm caused, it created many lifelong memories.
