Woman arrested for murder of elderly man in Sweetwater
MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is conducting a homicide investigation involving an elderly male.
In the morning hours of Thursday, January 16, 2025, a 911 call came in about CPR in progress in the 200 block of Cedar Valley Road in Sweetwater.
Upon arrival, deputies notified MCSO’s Criminal Investigation Unit and Violent Crime Task Force.
Both units responded to the scene.
Authorities discovered a 72-year-old male outside the residence unresponsive.
He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
According to MCSO, the male sustained what appeared to be multiple injuries.
Authorities questioned Dianna Turland regarding the incident.
Turland later confessed to striking the elderly male inside the residence, and later moving him outside.
Turland was later charged with First Degree Murder, and Aggravated Abuse of Elderly Adult.
