Ringgold body identified after GBI released photo of victims tattoo

UPDATE (1/21/2025):  The body found in Ringgold down an embankment near South Chickamauga Creek has been identified.

The GBI released they have identified the body with 37-year-old Jamie Lauren Wiley.

The GBI also announced they’ve arrested Joseph Shannon Mays in connection to this incident.

Mays is being charged with one count of Malice Murder.

Wiley’s body was discovered on the morning of January 18, 2025 by someone who was walking by.

RINGGOLD, Ga. (WDEF) —  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is asking for the public’s help in identifying a body found in Ringgold.

A woman’s body was discovered on January 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., down the embankment near South Chickamauga Creek off Emberson

According to the GBI, a person who was talking in the area reported the body.

This woman is between 5 foot 7 inches and 5 foot 9 inches tall, and weighing between 150 to 200 pounds.

According to the GBI, she is either white or hispanic with dark hair.

The woman also had the tattoo pictured above.

The GBI is asking anyone who recognizes this tattoo and/or the description to call the Ringgold Police Department (706) 935-3066.
