Lt. Governor announces DOGE bill for Georgia

ATLANTA (WDEF) – Lt. Governor Burt Jones announces a Georgia version of the President’s DOGE plans.

He plans to introduce the Red Tape Rollback Act of 2025 this session.

It would require all state agencies to review their rules and regulations every four years.

They will have to consider the economic impact of all rules, and inform lawmakers of the big ones.

It also would allow lawmakers to request a Small Business Impact Analysis on any new legislation they propose.

The Senate leader says the bill will continue progress they made last year on cutting government regulation.

“Last year, we made positive changes to combat burdensome and costly regulations on behalf of workers and business owners all over Georgia,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “As a business owner, continuing our efforts to promote deregulation and free our businesses from harmful government red tape will continue to be a priority. Our state initiative complements DOGE, President Donald Trump’s plan to create efficiency, while paring down unnecessary spending and eliminating bureaucratic red tape at the federal level. I look forward to Georgia leading the way and joining President Trump in reducing the size and scope of government, while promoting the growth of businesses across our state.”
