Fire crews rescue driver after tree crushes car
HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) — Crews with the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) rescued a driver after a tree fell on their car Sunday night.
CFD were dispatched to the 6600 block of Sandswitch Road at 5:38 p.m. January 26, 2025 on reports of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.
Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle that had been hit with a fallen tree.
According to CFD, it appeared that someone was cutting down a large tree, and it so happened to fall on the car as it was traveling through.
The tree crushed the car, trapping the driver inside.
CFD worked to extract the driver from the vehicle.
Once she was removed from the wreckage, it was determined she had sustained injuries to her lower extremities.
She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
There was also a child in the vehicle at the time of the incident, however, the child was unharmed and was pulled out prior to CFD’s arrival.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
