Violent motel disturbance leads to arrest in Calhoun
CALHOUN, Ga. (WDEF) — A late-night disturbance between deputies and a knife-wielding suspect led to an arrest.
Deputies with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) responded to a local motel near US Highway 41 and Interstate 75 at 11:15 p.m. after receiving reports of an active disturbance.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered Ezekiel Cooper, who was behaving aggressively while armed with a knife.
According to GCSO, Cooper refused repeated commands to drop the weapon.
He then assaulted the responding officers before attempting to barricade himself inside a room.
Deputies engaged in a struggle to subdue Cooper as he forcefully resisted arrest.
During the altercation, one deputy sustained a bite wound, while another was injured by broken glass.
Both officers were treated at a hospital and later released.
Cooper also received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries before being booked into jail.
He now faces multiple felony charges, including Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officers and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers.
Authorities have not yet released further details on the incident.
