ConNooga Brings Multi-Fandom Magic to Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – ConNooga is back at the Chattanooga Convention Center this weekend, offering nearly 500 hours of entertainment for fans of all kinds.

This multi-fandom convention is a purely fan-driven event, promising something for everyone—from comic book lovers to cosplayers and pop culture enthusiasts.

Junior board member Zachary Newbill emphasized the inclusive and welcoming nature of the convention.

“Con-Nooga slogan is ‘It is your con,’ so this is a multi-fandom convention, and the entire premise is that there is something for everyone,” Newbill said. “This is a safe space for everyone. Vendors from all over the country, all different walks of life, all different industries are here so that everyone can have a fun experience and just be the best nerdy self.”

Attendees can expect panels, vendors, cosplay meetups, and various performances throughout the weekend.

The event features opportunities for guests to immerse themselves in favorite fandoms, whether through costume contests, live shows, or interactive experiences.

Among the many cosplayers in attendance, Grace Barth, an award-winning princess model, dazzled as “Gu-linda with a Gu-” from Wicked.

“I just absolutely love her,” Barth said. “A lot of people come and ask to take pictures, and it is a lot of fun. Some little kids think you are the real deal, so it just brings magic to that.”

Cosplay is a major highlight of Con-Nooga, with costume contests and themed meetups for different fandoms.

Newbill explained that many attendees use the event as an opportunity to dress as favorite characters, coordinate with friends, or simply express creativity.

“There are cosplay competitions and cosplay meetups for different fandoms,” he said. “A lot of people are just coming in what they are really excited about—whether it is shows, movies, or anything else that they love.”

Beyond the fun, Con-Nooga is also dedicated to giving back.

He says convention is heavily charity-focused, working with several organizations, including McKamey Animal Center, to raise funds and awareness.

Con-Nooga runs all weekend, taking place annually during the last weekend of February.

This year, the event is being held from February 21 to 23 at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

Whether a longtime attendee or a first-time visitor, the event offers a welcoming space to celebrate fandoms, meet like-minded fans, and experience the magic of pop culture.
