CHATTANOOGA, TN. (WDEF-TV) — The Chattanooga City Council is taking steps to change Miller Park into a more visitor-friendly area.
The city will accept more than 27-thousand dollars from the River City company and 200-thousand from the Benwood foundation to design the 3-million dollar project.
Councilman Larry Grohn says the Miller park improvement is just part of an overall downtown plan.

"There’s money in the budget, for traffic calming and making Virginia Avenue more pedestrian and bike friendly. Its just an idea of connectivity in the city."
TIMOTHY GREEN, CHATTANOOGAN
"Change for the better is what I’d like to see for the park. If they turn it into something else I believe everybody should be welcome, you know."
The city is moving to make the park more accessible to M.L. King Boulevard for pedestrians, and more open as a central gathering place downtown.
