Garrison Keeslar is the X-Factor For the Chattanooga Mocs
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Mocs Garrison Keeslar plays basketball like he’s the All-State mayhem guy in those TV commercials.
Keeslar wouldn’t mind creating a little mayhem madness this week as UTC battles for the SoCon tournament title.
Said guard Honor Huff:”He’s the X-Factor.”
Garrison Keeslar is the X-Factor because he does it all for UTC.
Said head coach Dan Earl:”And he is the X-Factor. Again our best defender. He takes care of the basketball, and he’s extremely unselfish.”
Said Keeslar:”I like being the X-Factor. Glue guy. I like doing all the little stuff. Honestly whatever can help our team win. I’m just here because I want us to win. I want to get to March Madness.”
Being called the X-Factor says a lot about a player.
But apparently it’s still not enough to describe Keeslar.
Said Huff:”He just brings his leadership. I call him Coach Garrison because he talks to us like he’s the coach.”
Said Keeslar:”He always jokes about me being a head coach in the future. I just try to bring leadership qualities, and sometimes I sound like an old man.”
And this old man knows the value of ball security.
Said Earl:”His assist-to-turnover ratio was phenomenal at his previous stop at Walsh. It remains phenomenal now. I think he’s first in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio. Just doesn’t have enough assists to qualify if you will.”
Keeslar’s stats may not always shine, but his effort does.
Said Huff:”He’ll dive on the floor. He’ll dive into the bleachers. He’ll break his teeth. Whatever he has to do to ensure that we win.”
Somehow Keeslar kept his teeth on that dive against Wofford.
Said Keeslar:”I always tell people that was my God moment of the week. The fact that I came out with just a little scar is baffling because it could have been way worse.”
