Whitfield County authorities searching for escaped inmate

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) —  The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is actively searching for an inmate who walked away from a work crew.

Vincente Vasquez-Lopez walked away near Five Springs Road and South Dixie Highway in Whitfield County.

Vasquez-Lopez was serving time for a probation violation and is not considered violent, according to WCSO.

However, Sheriff Darren J. Pierce is urging residents in the area to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.

Multiple agencies, including the Georgia State Patrol and Dalton City Police Department, have joined the search effort.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the inmate’s whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.
