KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors has selected Don Moul as the new President and Chief Executive Officer.

Moul will step into his new role starting April 9, 2025.

He currently serves as TVA’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Moul will become the agency’s fourth CEO, succeeding Jeff Lyash, who announced his retirement in January.

He brings 38 years of experience in power generation and operations, Moul is recognized as a versatile leader with a strong track record of improving operational performance.

Since joining TVA in 2021, he has overseen power generation, transmission, and supply, led efforts to advance nuclear technology, and helped TVA achieve record-breaking peak power demand performance during extreme weather events while maintaining the agency’s strongest safety records.

“Don is the right choice to lead TVA forward as we work to build an energy system to power the next generation of American jobs.  Don is ready to be the hand guiding TVA in a time of rapid change and growth, and he will continue to propel TVA’s nuclear leadership. In his role as COO, he has led the development of next generation nuclear technologies and has a deep knowledge and appreciation for nuclear power – the most reliable power the world’s ever known.”

-Jeff Lyash, current president and CEO of TVA.

TVA, the nation’s largest public power utility, provides electricity to over 10 million people across the Tennessee Valley region.
