Free trees available to Chattanooga residents through new ReLeaf Program
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Residents of Chattanooga and EPB customers will have a chance to pick up two free native trees through the new Free Tree ReLeaf initiative.
The program is a partnership between Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center, the City of Chattanooga, and EPB.
This program aims to strengthen the local ecosystem, reduce stormwater runoff, and provide guidance on tree placement to avoid power line interference.
Tree pickup will take place at the Reflection Riding Native Plant Nursery, Saturday April 12, 2025 while supplies last.
Residents are asked to bring their address to verify eligibility within the EPB service area.
No reservations are allowed in advance, and residents will only be able to get two free trees per household.
A full list of available tree species and planting tips can be found at epb.com/freetree.
“Free Tree ReLeaf offers residents more than just the gift of a tree; it’s about fostering a deeper understanding of how native species benefit our community. By offering these trees, we’re not just helping to replenish Chattanooga’s canopy, we’re helping to create a network of resilient, sustainable landscapes that thrive in our local environment.”
– Mark McKnight, President and CEO of Reflection Riding
To avoid future power disruptions, EPB is also offering educational materials to help residents choose proper planting locations away from utility infrastructure.
