CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Chattanooga Police are investigating a series of threatening phone calls reported by two individuals who say they were targeted due to their involvement in a recent legal matter.

On April 9, 2025, Chattanooga Police responded to a report from Buddy Presley Jr., who said he received a threatening call earlier that day.

According to an affidavit, Buddy told officers he recognized the caller’s voice as Rick Davis, who allegedly told him, “I’m going to kill you.”

After the call ended, Presley contacted his son, Matthew Presley, and tried to return the call from the same number.

Shortly afterward, Buddy received another call from the same number, which he believed belonged to Davis.

While the call did not include a direct threat, Buddy said Davis began cursing at him.

Buddy recorded the call and confirmed the voice matched previous conversations he had with Davis.

Later that day, Matthew Presley, an attorney with the Presley Law Firm, also received a threatening call from the same number.

According to police, the caller again threatened to kill him.

Both Matthew and Buddy Presley informed authorities that they believe the threats are linked to their role in shutting down Rick Davis Pawn Shop and said they intend to press harassment charges.

Police confirmed that warrants are pending as the investigation continues.
