Chattanooga Comes Together for 2025 Autism Celebration Walk

The heart of the city pulsed with purpose today as hundreds of supporters gathered for the annual Autism Celebration Walk, a vibrant and emotional event that brought together families, advocates, and individuals on the spectrum in a show of awareness, acceptance, and inclusion.

With signs of encouragement, matching shirts, and smiling faces, the streets were filled with energy and unity — a community walking side by side for a cause that touches so many lives.

Among those in the crowd was Jamaica Crowder, a mother who’s journeyed hand-in-hand with her child through the highs and challenges of autism. Fighting back emotion, she shared what this day and community mean to her.

“There are people out here who don’t have family to support them — it’s just them and their child. Having your village in your church family to accept you and help with your babies or whatever you need, that means everything,” Crowder said.

Not far from her stood a small but powerful group of women — all autistic, all bonded through friendship and shared experiences.

Molly Campbell, a member of the support group, lit up as she talked about what their connection has brought into her life.

“We do social events together, we have support groups, and we talk about our interests and stuff. I love it — that’s my special address. I even baked for us today,” she said proudly. “We just like to let each other flourish and shine. The best thing that came from this is friendship in my life.”

The walk also saw the familiar face of News 12 anchor Andrew Harrison, whose presence underscored just how personal this event is for so many.

“I’m walking in honor of my oldest son. He’s 17 and was diagnosed with autism. What a great environment for him to be in today — we are just so grateful for the Autism Walk,” Harrison said, walking with his son close by.

As the crowd slowly made its way through the city, one message echoed louder than any loudspeaker: No one walks this path alone.
