Signal Mountain Man Charged in Muslim Attack Plot Brings Muslim-American Protestors to Federal Courthouse
That’s a community of schools, mosques, and homes for American Muslims.
Protestors from New York say Doggart has already been given unfair treatment after he made bail and was placed on house arrest while awaiting the trial.
Matthew Gardner Muslims of America Inc. Public Relations says he also wants the charges increased to terrorist charges.
"If he was a Muslim that was planning this you know full well what would have happened, he would have been brought up on charges, he would have been in Guantanamo Bay type of imprisonment," said Gardner.
Local business owner and coordinator for Egyptians Abroad for Democracy believes a lack of subsequent punishment could encourage others to carry out attacks on Muslims.
He details that in this statement:
"I Mohamed Ismail a business owner in Chattanooga, MBA from Kennesaw University and also the coordinator for Egyptians Abroad For Democracy Worldwide condemn the decision that took place by the court regarding the house arrest. This decision is delivering the wrong message to the Muslim community, not just in the states but the whole world that their lives don’t matter. All lives should matter regardless of their color, religion, nationality, and background. The USA always a role model of justice and we need to stay that way. The consequences of the attack by the court judgement weren’t at the same level of the act and I am afraid that we will see others who will follow the same foot steps toward Muslims and create a real animosity among citizens. The rule of law show prevail regardless."
Doggart is currently still charged with soliciting others to violate federal civil rights laws.
