Florida Man Fondles Ferret In Pet Store, Then Shoplifts It In His Shorts

Police in Jacksonville, Florida are searching for a suspect who allegedly stole a $650 ferret from a Petland store. According to a police report, security cameras captured footage of the male suspect “browsing the ferret section” and “fondling the ferret for quite some time” before shoving it into his shorts and leaving the store without paying. As the suspect departed, a Petland manager gave chase, but was unable to obtain the license plate of the “white work van with multiple ladders” the suspect fled in. The report describes the suspect as having a “unique long mustache” and wearing a blue Under Armour shirt and shorts with a “Navy” logo. While an automated facial recognition system failed to identify the suspect, the clear surveillance images may aid in the eventual apprehension of the alleged “ferret bandit,” as police have dubbed him.
