Chattanooga caregiver indicted for exploiting vulnerable adult

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A Hamilton County woman is facing forgery and financial exploitation charges following an investigation conducted by the TBI.

In January of 2025, the Department of Disability and Aging made a referral to special agents regarding allegations of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

Throughout the investigation, TBI agents found information that showed Jaliyah Truss used the victim’s bank card to make unauthorized, personal purchases worth over $25,000.

Agents determined Truss did this between the months of August and November of 2024.

According to the TBI, Truss was a caregiver with TennCare’s CHOICES program.

On May 28, 2025, the Hamilton County Grand Jury indicted Truss, charging her with the following:

  • Financial Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult
  • Credit Card Fraud
  • Forgery

Truss was booked into the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center on June 3, 2025, on a $40,000 bond.
