Murray County drug sting ends in two arrests
MURRAY COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Authorities in Murray County have arrested two individuals for drug related activity.
On June 10, 2025, the Murray County Sheriff’s Office’s (MCSO) Narcotics Division conducted an investigation that led to the seizure of the following:
- 35 grams of methamphetamine
- 6 lbs of marijuana,
- 86 grams of psilocybin
- a firearm
- $5,238 cash
Both Eric Hefner and Jonathan Powell were arrested and taken into custody.
Hegner is being charged with the following:

Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

Felony Possession of Marijuana

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (psilocybin)
Powell is being charged with the following:

Trafficking Methamphetamine

Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine

Possession of Methamphetamine

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (psilocybin)

Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

Felony Possession of Marijuana

Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Powell also had active arrest warrants out of Knox County, Tennessee.
