Traffic advisory for upcoming weekend I-24 and Germantown Road closures

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) – City of East Ridge and the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is advising motorists of upcoming full closures of I-24 and Germantown Road for two weekends.

I-24 and Germantown Road will be closed from Friday, June 20 through Monday, June 23 from 9 P.M. – 6 A.M.

It will also be closed on Friday, June 27 through Monday, June 30 from 9 P.M. – 6 A.M.

TDOT is doing construction on I-24 at the Germantown Road Bridge which will require the complete closure of I-24 at Germantown Road in both directions. It will also full close Germantown Road in the immediate work zone.

TDOT has established detour routes for trucks and regular vehicles and will deploy message boards and signage.

For southbound truck drivers, their detour will be from Moore Road to Ringgold Road to Germantown Road. Trucks will not be permitted to use the tunnels or South Terrace during the closures.

For regular vehicles heads southbound, their detour is Belvoir Avenue to Fountain Avenue to Germantown Road.

The construction and closures are part of a broader infrastructure improvement project to ensure long-term roadway safety and reliability.
