Chattanooga police investigating self-defense claim after deadly Dodson Avenue shooting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) is investigating a self-defense claim in relation to a homicide on Dodson Avenue.

On June 19, 2025, around 6:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a person shot call in the 2700 block of Dodson Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located two men with life threatening injuries.

Both were transported to a local hospital, where they later died.

According to CPD’s preliminary investigation, both men were at the residence to confront the shooter.

One of the deceased men is believed to have pulled a gun out.

The shooter remained on scene until officers arrived.
