New Tech helps those with Vision Impairment

CHATTANOOGA, TN –

Somewhere around seven million Americans deal with low vision including one million that are blind. This week on Tech Byte we invited Cheryl Saucier from LVI America to show us how they’re using new tech and even some AI to help with vision impairment.

“Low Vision International is one of the first companies in the world to innovate, video magnification technology for people with vision loss,” says Cheryl. “People with vision loss, AI has actually been, technology that’s been used for a number of years. So think about navigation. Somebody with vision loss needing to get point to point, navigation from one location to another. So there have been apps and things like that that we’ve used for years. And somebody with a vision impairment can use this device in multiple ways.”

The camera connects to your run of the mill tablet, but it can help you identify the colors of the clothes you’re picking out, it can read food boxes to tell you the ingredients or the name, and it can even read your bills and highlight the pertinent information on them for you.

If you’re dealing with low vision or problems with it, you can e-mail them directly at info@lviamerica.com or visit them online at www.lviamerica.com.
