Hiker dies from snake bite at Savage Gulf State Park
GRUETLI-LAAGER, Tennessee (WDEF) – A hiker has died from a snake bite on the Cumberland Plateau.
It happened at Savage Gulf State Park in Grundy County around noon on Monday.
Multiple agencies sent emergency personnel to the scene.
They found the hike about a half mile down the trail.
The performed CPR and sent him to the hospital, but the victim later died from the bite.
Matt Griffith with the Grundy County EMA says “Grundy County has some amazing fire responders that took immediate action.”
“The family of the individual will be in our thoughts and prayers. As always it’s strongly recommended to have some kind of fire aide supplies while enjoying outdoor recreational activities and be mindful of wildlife and the dangers that some wildlife may pose. ”
