One dead, one injured in Roper Street shooting

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) —  One person is dead and another person is injured after a shooting on Roper Street Monday afternoon.

On August 25, 2025, at 3:20 p.m., officers with the East Ridge Police Department (ERPD) responded to the 5700 block of Roper Street.

Upon arrival, officers and EMS personnel located two individuals suffering from apparent life-threatening gunshot wounds.

According to the ERPD, one of those individuals was declared dead on scene.

The other person was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Investigators with ERPD are currently processing the scene.
