Student questioned after firearm-related comments at South Polk Elementary

POLK COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Polk County Schools (PCS) have released information about an incident that occurred at one of their campuses.

On September 2, 2025, a student at South Polk Elementary School made comments about bringing a firearm to school.

After administration was made aware of it, an investigation was launched and the student was immediately brought in for questioning.

According to PCS, during the investigation, it was determined that the student had an empty shell casing at the school.

PCS emphasized at no point was there a firearm or live ammunition present at the school.

“We believe it is important to keep our families informed, and we want to be transparent about the situation.  Please know that the safety and well-being of all students at South Polk Elementary School remain our highest priority.”

The student who was involved in the incident is being disciplined in accordance with district and school guidelines.
