Veryan Rotational Atherectomy System

This week on Tech Byte, we visit the Vascular Institute of Chattanooga with my friend, Doctor Chris LeSar. We’re going to look at Veryan Medical’s newest Veryan Rotational Atherectomy System, and what it does.

According to Dr. LeSar, atherectomy is the removal of a blockage from inside an artery. Instead of opening the body to get to the blockage, medical professionals can fix it from the inside. The Veryan Rotational Atherectomy System is a tool that has a diamond coated tip that interacts with calcium to remove that calcium blockage. It also has a suction feature to suck out the broken-up calcium.
But how do doctors like LeSar know they’re going to need the Veryan System over some of their other atherectomy tools?
Dr. LeSar says that doctors can’t decide on the right tool until they get a look inside the patient’s artery and get to know their medical history. Doctors want the best chance to completely clear a blockage. If they can fix that blockage, then the patient can walk again, or finally get a chance to heal.
Even though the tip of the Veryan System is coated in diamonds, it won’t cut into soft material, like your skin, even when you turn it on! It’s designed to only cut through hard material, so it’s completely safe and very effective!
