FBI & Fort Payne police investigating local bank robbery
FORT PAYNE, Al. (WDEF) — Federal and local authorities are investigating a bank robbery that occurred in Fort Payne Tuesday morning.
At 9:20 a.m., September 9, 2025, a white male dressed in blue jeans, a long sleeve button down shirt, and a black ball cap walked into the PNC Bank armed with a handgun.
According to the Fort Payne Police Department (FPPD), a man handed a bank teller a note stating that it was a robbery.
The teller gave the man approximately $3,000 in cash.
The man then exited the bank, walking north.
Fort Payne City Schools (FPCS) were placed on “secure perimeter” status for a majority of the day.
FPCS said in a release that additional police will be present on campuses for the remainder of the school day and through after school activities.
