La Paz food pantry receives boost through Great Pantry Makeover

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – La Paz, a local food pantry in Chattanooga, is receiving major support to help neighbors who may be struggling to put meals on the table.

The pantry is part of the Food Lion Feeds Annual Great Pantry Makeover initiative and is one of 33 food pantries across the country being upgraded this month.

The effort comes during Hunger Action Month, when Food Lion helps pantries better serve their communities.

Associates volunteered their time to add new shelving, storage, organizing tools, and help families access the best fresh produce available.

Lily Sanchez, Director of Communications and Development said, “This specifically is really cool, because thanks to the generosity of Food Lion, we’re able to get a pretty large quantity all at once, and so of course this fresh produce, so we’re trying to get it out as quickly as possible into the hands of our families.”

La Paz says their pantry is always open to the public, so families never have to choose between dinner and rent.
