Hellmann’s Covers Repairs After Customer Sets Café On Fire Over Missing Mayonnaise

Hellmann’s Spain has offered to pay repair costs for Cafetería Las Postas in Sevilla after a customer set the restaurant on fire because staff had no mayonnaise packets. The August 21st incident began when a man requested condiments for his sandwich but was told none were available. He left to buy gasoline from a nearby station, returned, and doused the counter with fuel before igniting it. “Imagine the fire that started,” café owner José Antonio Caballero told El Economista. “There were children in front of him, people spending the afternoon. It was tremendous.” Security footage showed customers and employees fleeing as flames erupted. Damage estimates ranged between €7,000 and €10,000. Hellmann’s Spain responded on Instagram: “Let us take care of the repairs and make sure your sandwiches never run out of mayonnaise again.” Bystanders detained the arsonist until police arrived.
