Students Get Second-Degree Burns After Being Forced To Crawl On Hot Track As Punishment

Two freshman dance team team members at Warren Central High School sustained second-degree burns on their hands after allegedly being forced to perform bear crawls on hot asphalt September 18th. Trinity Peagler, 14, was hospitalized with an expected six-month recovery time after temperatures reached nearly 90 degrees. Her father Travis Peagler said she was punished for poor grades. “I really just want to know what made you think that that was okay, on the 86-degree, whatever degree weather, day that it was okay to have them doing bear crawls on an asphalt track when it had to be at least over 100 degrees on the track,” said mother Stacey Peagler. Travis Peagler called it child abuse, telling reporters “This isn’t discipline. It’s child abuse.” Indianapolis Metropolitan Police confirmed an ongoing investigation. (Story URL)
