Hamilton County Health Department gives out free flu shots

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Hamilton County Health Department gave out free flu shots Tuesday.

The program was held at La Paz in Chattanooga.

This was a part of the Tennessee Department of Health’s Flu Shot Day.

Joeli Pifer of the Health Department says they had a large turnout, as they are encouraged by the increased amount of people getting their flu shots.

Pifer said, “We want to always communicate the effectiveness of the flu shot because it’s terrible. Let’s be honest, we’ve all had it, it’s not a fun experience, you don’t want to have it again. If you can take any opportunity to lessen those symptoms or even help them prevent it, why wouldn’t you?”

She says that if you didn’t get your flu shot at the event, the Health Department has flu shots on hand at all of their locations including their main offices in downtown Chattanooga, and their mobile health unit.
