Man Sues DC After Arrest For Playing Darth Vader Theme Near National Guard Troops

Sam O’Hara filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against Washington D.C., claiming police violated his constitutional rights by detaining him for playing “The Imperial March” from Star Wars while following Ohio National Guard troops. The 35-year-old artist was handcuffed for 15 to 20 minutes on September 11th before being released without charges. O’Hara told the Associated Press: “It feels surreal and dystopian” and “I feel like I’m living in a Star Wars episode or movie, and this is like an invading, dark force.” His ACLU-backed lawsuit seeks damages against four police officers and one Guard member for alleged First and Fourth Amendment violations. The case stems from Trump’s deployment of over 2,300 National Guard troops from eight states to patrol Washington. (Story URL)
