SeaWorld Faces $50,000 Lawsuit After Duck Collision Knocks Woman Unconscious On Roller Coaster
A woman is seeking $50,000 from SeaWorld Orlando after a duck struck her face while riding the Mako roller coaster in March, causing her to lose consciousness. Her attorneys argue SeaWorld failed to warn guests about dangerous conditions and “created a zone of danger for bird strikes due to… placing the roller coaster over or near a body of water, which creates a higher risk of bird strikes involving ducks, gulls, geese and other waterfowl.” The lawsuit claims the Mako coaster disorients birds and increases collision risks. SeaWorld typically doesn’t comment on pending litigation but has previously stated guest safety is a top priority. While Mako has faced lawsuits involving flying objects before, this appears to be the first duck-related incident. The incident wasn’t included in the park’s quarterly injury report, and the duck’s condition remains unknown. (Story URL)
