Whitfield County man sentenced to 30 years for violating sexual offender registry statute
WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — A Whitfield County jury found Vincent Michael Harper guilty of violating the sexual offender registry statute, leading to a sentence of 30 years in prison on September 16, 2025.
On October 31, 2025, Superior Court Judge Jim Wilbanks sentenced Vincent Michael Harper to 30 years’ imprisonment.
Evidence presented at trial showed that Harper was convicted of unlawful sexual intercourse in Madera County, California, on September 19, 2008.
In February 2023, he was sentenced to prison for violating probation on a felony family violence battery charge.
After his release, Harper lied his way into a homeless shelter in downtown Dalton, Georgia.
After being discharged from the shelter for misconduct, the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office became aware of his unauthorized presence in the community and immediately obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Shortly thereafter, Chatsworth Police Officer Richard Jackson apprehended Harper at a hotel in Murray County.
