Two Candidates Announce Run for Hamilton Co. Assessor of Property
County Commissioner Marty Haynes announced his intentions in Hixson on Monday night.
He has represented the Hixson and Middle Valley area since 2012.
"Serving the public is a tremendous honor and one that I take seriously," Haynes noted. "Earning the trust of voters to serve as the Assessor of Property is the focus of my campaign. Hamilton County citizens deserve and expect proven stewardship and accountability in their government."
Haynes will face Sterling Jetton for the Republican nomination.
Jetton has worked in the Assessor’s office for 20 years.
He is also pastor at Shelter Church.

“The Assessor’s Office is a State of Tennessee constitutional office. The Assessor of Property is given the duties of identifying and classifying all property in Hamilton County. This role has many mandates from the state that require compliance, and experienced leadership is vital to the ongoing success of the office.”
The Assessor’s job is open for the first time in more than 20 years with the retirement of Bill Bennett.
The Republican primary for Hamilton County is March 1st, 2016.
