French Student Sets New Bicycle Wheelie World Record At 93 Miles
Oscar Delaite, a 19-year-old engineering student at Université de Technologié de Troyes, established a new world record for continuous bicycle wheelie distance. The French student completed 752 laps on an indoor track in Vittel, covering more than 93 miles without his front wheel touching ground. His six hours and 31 minutes performance broke the previous record by over 43 miles. Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement in September and sent Delaite congratulations Monday. “Because it’s fun,” Delaite told Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Gay about his motivation, though he admitted his “butt was painful for a week” afterward. Delaite trained 10 to 15 hours weekly for over a year. He already holds records for longest one-handed wheelie and longest continuous wheelie without front wheel contact. (Story URL)
