RINGGOLD, Ga. — A Catoosa County jury convicted a 53-year-old man on several charges following the brutal attack on his girlfriend earlier this year.

Investigators say Shane Murray Bowling fired a pistol from the yard and then held the gun to his girlfriend’s head, threatening to kill her.

A Catoosa County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a 911 call on January 17.

He said he heard shouting and a heavy thump coming from inside.

Bowling was found standing over the victim, as she was lying on the floor bleeding from her face and head.

He continued to assault her throughout the home.

“He knocked her out of a chair, slammed her face into the floor repeatedly, and dragged her into the home by her hair”, according to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

A loaded .22 revolver with one spent casing from Bowling’s bedroom was discovered.

Shane Bowling was sentenced to 22 years with 15 to be served in custody.

He faces various charges including aggravated assault and family violence battery.

Bowling must also complete a Family Violence Intervention Program and be evaluated for substance abuse upon his release.
