Colorado HOA Reverses Decision, Allows Family To Keep 28-Foot Inflatable Santa
A Severance, Colorado family won their battle against their homeowner’s association to keep a 28-foot inflatable Santa decoration in their yard. Dora Flores and her family faced removal orders from Fromm & Company, which manages their HOA, after erecting the towering Santa that stands taller than their house. “We saved up money throughout the year to be able to purchase Santa,” Flores told KUSA-TV. The HOA letter stated “The Santa Claus located in your backyard is excessive in height and not permitted. Please remove immediately.” Neighbors rallied to support the Flores family, contacting HOA management and putting up their own inflatables in solidarity. “Definitely now, I won’t take it down,” neighbor Cody Bowden said of his inflatable. “I don’t see that this is anything offensive or anything wrong.” The protest succeeded when HOA upper management called Flores to apologize.
